Mr. Maurice O’Flaherty MSc (Sports Med) FRCSEd (Tr & Ortho)

Mr. Maurice O’Flaherty is a Consultant Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgeon, specialising in Trauma surgery, Sports injuries and the surgical treatment of all foot and ankle conditions.

Having graduated in Medicine from Queens University Belfast in 2002, he went on to follow a surgical career path, gaining a place on the Northern Ireland Orthopaedic Higher Surgical Training scheme in 2007. He obtained his Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh (Trauma & Orthopaedics) in 2012 and went on to take up a place on the prestigious Surrey Foot and Ankle Fellowship in London for a period of one year. It was here that he spent time furthering his skills in foot and ankle surgery under the guidance of Mr. Anthony Sakellariou (Current President of the British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society) and Mr. Matthew Solan.

Mr. O’Flaherty also graduated from the University of Bath in England, gaining a Masters of Science degree in Sports & Exercise Medicine. He spent time training with doctors and allied health professionals from all aspects of sport and exercise medicine, including Premier League Football and Rugby Union. As a result, he has a wide understanding of the injuries sustained by professional and recreational athletes alike, and their treatment.

He is a Consultant in the Royal Victoria Hospital and Musgrave Park Hospital Belfast. He is a member of the on-call Trauma team in the Royal Victoria Hospital, runs a regular fracture clinic and carries out regular trauma surgery.

In Musgrave Park Hospital he regularly carries out all aspects of foot and ankle surgery and has a regular orthopaedic clinic.

He has regular appointments in Malone Medical Chambers, seeing medicolegal clients and private patients alike.
