Dr Donna Mullen is an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist specialising in General Adult Psychiatry and Addictions Psychiatry. She graduated from Queen’s University Belfast in 1998 and became a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) in 2007.  She has over 20 years of experience working as a psychiatrist in the NHS including 11 years as an NHS consultant working in the field of Addictions. She has expertise and experience in the assessment and treatment in a wide range of mental disorders with a particular interest in Addictions and co-morbidity.  More latterly she has developed increased interest in ADHD due to the high incidence of co-morbidity between ADHD and Addictions.  Dr Mullen has held Consultant posts in both Northern Ireland and Scotland, most recently as an Addictions Consultant with the South Eastern Health & Social Care Trust.

Dr Mullen has contributed to academic research in addiction psychiatry, with peer-reviewed publications and presentations at national conferences. Her work has explored areas such as mindfulness-based interventions, substance misuse trends, and service delivery improvements.  She has a strong interest in psychotherapy and has undertaken training in mindfulness-based approaches and group analytic psychotherapy, informing a holistic and patient-centred approach to care.

Dr Mullen has held leadership roles within addiction psychiatry, including serving on the Faculty of Addictions Executive Committee of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and as Chair of the Faculty in Northern Ireland. She has contributed to service development, quality improvement initiatives, and regional policy discussions.

In private practice, Dr Mullen provides comprehensive psychiatric assessment and treatment for a range of mental health conditions, with interests in anxiety disorders, mood disorders, behavioural addictions, trauma-related conditions, and adult ADHD. Her approach integrates evidence-based pharmacological and psychological treatments tailored to individual needs.
