Selcen Yaroglu – Kazanci
Dr Kazanci, MD BBA Diploma in Autism, is a Consultant Paediatrician with extensive experience in general paediatrics and neurodevelopmental medicine, with particular expertise in the assessment and management of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in children, adolescents and adults.
Dr Kazanci graduated in Medicine in 2001 and has worked as a Consultant Paediatrician since 2010. She has undertaken specialist training and clinical work in a number of prestigious centres in the UK and USA, gaining broad experience across general paediatrics, paediatric neurology, developmental and behavioural paediatrics, adolescent medicine and neurodevelopmental assessment.
Her specialist experience includes working in Developmental and Behavioural Paediatrics at Boston Medical Center, Boston University, and Paediatric Cardiology in Boston Children’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School, as well as Paediatric Neurology at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London. She has also worked with the Northern and Southern Health and Social Care Trusts in Northern Ireland and with Belfast Health and Social Care Trust for a short while. She subsequently worked as a Consultant Community Paediatrician at Whittington Hospital in London.
Dr Kazanci has a particular interest in neurodevelopmental conditions and has undertaken extensive additional specialist training in autism and ADHD. She holds a Diploma in Autism from the National Centre for Autism and Neurodevelopmental Mental Health (NCAMH), providing further specialist knowledge in the assessment and management of autism across childhood, adolescence and adulthood. She is trained in the use of recognised autism assessment tools, including the ADOS-2 and ADI-R, and has experience undertaking both child and adult autism assessments.
In addition, Dr Kazanci completed two years of specialist training in Adult Neurology. This experience has provided her with a broader understanding of neurological and neurodevelopmental presentations in adulthood and has particularly informed her approach to adult neurodevelopmental assessments, including understanding how conditions such as ADHD and autism may present and evolve across the lifespan.
Dr Kazanci is also trained in adult ADHD and autism assessment, allowing her to assess neurodevelopmental conditions across the lifespan and to consider developmental history, current functioning and the interaction between childhood and adult presentations.
Alongside her neurodevelopmental expertise, Dr Kazanci has additional training and experience in paediatric neurology and adolescent medicine, allowing her to provide a broad and holistic assessment where developmental, behavioural, neurological and general paediatric concerns may overlap.
Dr Kazanci has an active academic interest and has authored or co-authored more than 40 peer-reviewed publications, covering areas including ADHD, paediatric neurology, developmental paediatrics and general paediatrics. She has contributed to research and academic work throughout her career.
She currently continues to work clinically in London and Kent, alongside her practice at Malone Medical Chambers in Belfast, and remains actively involved in the assessment and management of children, adolescents and adults with neurodevelopmental and general paediatric conditions.
